One of the recommendations from the Code review was that Scottish higher education institutions should establish a repository of good practice in higher education governance to support continuous improvement across the sector.
This expectation is reflected in the 2017 edition of the Code. Universities have been gathering and sharing good practice during the 2018-19 academic year.

The examples of good practice will be a “live resource”, reviewed by universities at least annually. Universities will work with their stakeholders, as represented on Courts, to agree what constitutes good practice in their context.
The steering group was clear that practice is likely to vary across a diverse set of institutions, reflecting their different structures, sizes, cultures and missions. The examples are also likely to evolve over time. Neither the Code nor the repository is intended to lead to a one-size-fits-all approach to higher education governance so whilst the repository is a useful resource in reflection and sharing good practice, there is no expectation that all institutions should adopt the same practice.
